Cantonese tradition x contemporary London
Three Uncles offers a casual Cantonese dining experience, delivering roast meats with the depth and authenticity usually found in Hong Kong’s siu mei shops. The food is high-quality, portions are generous, and we felt the price was reasonable for central London. Eating here feels like discovering a local secret, even as the brand’s reputation continues to spread across London.

The interiors blend brushed metal and utilitarian layouts reminiscent of Hong Kong’s bustling roast-meat shops, giving each location a sense of craft, though perhaps with a curated trendiness. The space was compact and lively, with open displays of hanging roast meats and chefs carving at the counter. These are visual cues that reinforce the restaurant’s culinary identity. The brand identity itself draws on repetition, reflecting both the rhythm of chopping and stacking intrinsic to siu mei and the repetitious glow of Hong Kong’s neon signs.

Despite the casual setup, the ambience remains welcoming, with clean lines and warm lighting creating a modern feel. The seating encourages quick meals rather than prolonged stays, aligning perfectly with the food’s style. Behind the concept are three Hong Kong–raised childhood friends, chefs, and restaurateurs who moved to the UK more than twenty years ago, bringing their shared culinary heritage with them. A final thoughtful touch is the iconography inspired by Chinese characters with an interplay of sweeping strokes and short, deliberate lines that deepens the visual and cultural coherence of the Three Uncles experience.
